ยื่นหมูยื่นแมว literally "Put out your pig, put out your cat" is a Thai expression which means to swap.
This project is the outcome of a residency hosted by the Faculty of Architecture at Silpakorn University with the support of the Ian Potter Cultural Trust.
An exercise in bricoleurbanism: Cobbling together ideas, materials, observations and stories from the city of Nakhon Pathom.
As artists in residence we are taking residence on the street - swapping our art for stories from the people, bypassing the tyranny of the cock-eyed exchange rate: trading story for story.
The bicycles were constructed as a mobile site for exchange. Over the course of a month we cycled around Nakhon Pathom, sketching what we found beautiful or interesting. At night we set up the bicycles at the market by Pra Prathom Chedi. There we invited the townspeople to have one of our sketches inexchange for a story or a drawing of their own.
Along the way we have strayed from our place as comfortable observers. On our PVC enhanced überbicycles we find ourselves amongst the elephants and the blind musicians as part of the show.
