On Saturday 30.08.08 the bricoleurbanists organised a workshop in site specific and collaborative ways of working for 2nd year Architecture students at Silpakorn University.
For the first exercise the students were asked to make a model of a place for 'rest' in 15 minutes. After this they swapped their creations with a partner and were asked to modify the model to also allow for 'play'. They were not allowed to discuss their models as they handed them over.
For the second excercise each group was given a 1 x 1 m site near the entrance to the Architecture building. The sites were varied: some where on the stairs, some in the trees, some by the water, etc. The students were also given a 1:5 scale person. Each person had a strong desire to do something: sleep, drink coffee, climb, listen, etc. Each group was asked to use the features of the site, plus whatever materials they could find to make a place to fulfill the desires of their person.
